Bunions are the bony lumps found on the side of the forefoot at the base of the big toe. They are often associated with Hallux Valgus and pain can occur over the bunion, in the joint at the base of the big toe or across the width of the forefoot on top or under the ball of the foot.

This is the largest lump that I have seen! It is in fact a bursa overlying the bony bunion and is easily removed with a small operation.
